I have already given the types of probiotics that strengthen leaky gut barrier in another post. Barrier can be leaky because of a number of reasons and many manifest with different diseases.
Is It Leaky Gut or Leaky Gut Syndrome?
Obesity and weight loss: Data is mixed when studies using any kind of probiotic are combined. A large randomized trial comprising 210 subjects showed that Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055 in fermented milk for 12 weeks showed that the probiotic group had a decrease in abdominal fat, BMI, waist line and hip circumference. Another randomized controlled trial by Sanchez and colleagues showed that the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus CGMCC1.3724 helps obese women achieve sustainable weight loss.
Travelers diarrhea: Multiple studies have documented the positive impact of Saccharomyces boulardii.
Lactose intolerance: Yogurt is usually well tolerated by patients since lactase produced by probiotic bacteria digests the lactose.

Gastrointestinal distress: Try Bifidobacterium infantis 35624, Bifidobacterium bifidum MIMBb75 or Lactobacillus plantarum 299V.
Chronic constipation: Bifidobacterium lactis DN-173 010 (Activia), Lactobacillus casei Shirota and Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 have been shown to be of benfit in adults. Use L. casei rhamnosus Lcr35 in case of constipation in kids.
Antibiotic induced diarrhea: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG as well as Saccharomyces boulardii reduce the risk. Do not take both the antibiotic and the probiotic simultaneously. Continue taking probiotic for 2-3 weeks beyond the course of antibiotic so as to rebuild the healthy bacterial defenses.
Colic in kids: Regular intake of Lactobacillus reuteri reduces the frequency as well as severity of infantile colic as seen on decreased crying times.
Skin eczema or atopic dermatitis: It is common in kids. Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001, Lactobacillus fermentum VRI-003 PCC, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG as well as combination of Lactobacillus rhamnosus 19070-2 and L reuteri DSM 12246 have been shown to be helpful. In fact, benefit may accrue if high risk moms are take it during pregnancy and the period the baby is being breast-fed.

Common cold: Bifidobacterium animalis lactis Bi-07 and Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM reduce the duration and severity of symptoms.
Bacterial vaginosis: Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 are the most effective in reducing the risk. Use of probiotic yogurts has been shown to be helpful as well.
Poor orodental health including dental caries, plaques and bad gums: Bacteria in mouth have been implicated in increasing the risk. Probiotics lozenges and mouth washes are available. Probiotic Lactobacillus reuteri LR-1 or LR-2 are of benefit.
Bad breath: Good news for those suffering from bad breath which is frequently due to release of sulphur containing compounds due to unhealthy bacteria in the mouth. Probiotics like Weissella cibaria as well as S. salivarius K12 can help alleviate this problem by blocking the creation of sulfur compounds in the mouth.
Of note, Dr. Minocha's article on preventative benefits from probiotics was published in the journal Nutrition in Clinical Practice.
