Wall Street Journal Best Seller Dr. M's Seven-X Plan for Digestive Health
I ran into a friend of mine at the book store. He asked me about a popular sleep drug available by prescription only. I told him that as with any medication, risks should be weighed against the benefits.
Rather than just talk over his head, we pulled out the prescribing information and together looked at the advantages as well potential risks, benefits and side-effects.
Is It Leaky Gut or Leaky Gut Syndrome?
It stated that the drug may lower testosterone levels and increase prolactin levels. He knew well enough about testosterone but asked me about prolactin. Well, I gave him a synopsis. Prolactin as you know is involved with, among other things, milk production.
Increased prolactin levels in men may cause hypogonadism, with decreased sex drive, impotence, increased breast size but rarely milk production.
He did not like what he read and heard. He simply said, "It is not fair". I told him that the best way to approach the issue is that he should discuss everything with his doctor in proper context including the potential for risks versus the benefits.
He exclaimed, "Heck, I make the decision on this one". And his verdict "I guess I will have to live without sleep!"
